Paula Nielson

Yoga Teacher and Owner of Balance.

I have attended yoga classes here and there for most of my adult life. Being a dancer, I loved the idea of yoga but often left class frustrated because I couldn’t do the poses “perfectly.”

.

My attitude shifted when I lost my Mom in 2016. The trauma and grief left my joints and basically my whole body feeling like cement. I was still working out and teaching dance, but my mobility shifted drastically. My good friend talked me into some private yoga sessions. In these sessions I learned to breathe and be gentle with my body. My body started to soften and let go. I also physically started to let go of what I thought things were suppose to look like, including my yoga practice

When we purchased our beautiful building (current space)in 2019 my good friend suggested adding yoga to the already established dance studio business.

.

I decided if I was going to offer yoga, I needed to get certified and dive deeper into what yoga was all about. I completed my 200 Hour YTT with @intuneyogawellness in December 2019 and fell in love with yoga and teaching yoga, especially to children

.

During the pandemic I started practicing Kundalini Yoga to help calm my nerves. I fell in love with how Kundalini helped me breathe, turn inward and become more aware. I just completed my 100 Hour Kundalini TT in December 2021 with @innerpeaceyogaschool I cannot wait to start sharing Kundalini with our Balance community!

Yoga has completely changed my life in so many ways. One thing I want everyone to know is that EVERY SINGLE PERSON can do yoga! It’s your practice and there is not a certain way it must look

.

Yoga has been a great addition to Balance. Our mission has always been to help people feel JOY in their movement. It’s been a journey for me personally and still is, but I am so passionate about the freedom we get from just being us and knowing we are enough.

.

I love being anywhere close to red rocks and sunshine!  We live in Alpine and have raised our family of four children here for the past 24 years. Alpine is our home.
